Best practices for debunking are expected to emerge through the Methodology Forums/Panels. Expert commentary is abundant, on what "ghost hunters" are doing wrong. Some information is available on scientifically conducting a paranormal investigation, but those sources still tend to advise in abstract strokes. (See Methodology Forums)
Along with our SxS Debunking Guide Book, it would be very helpful if claimants had an easier way to test their environment. Those two things could really put someone on the road to debunking troublesome "unexplained" events.
When looking at "common environmental factors in a room" one must first consider variations from location to location. Micro-environments can be influenced by their association and proximity to other environments. Baselines inside and outside the micro-environment are beneficial.
What Can Be Measured?
Generally, environments appear to be affected by:
- Air quality
- Infrasound
- Drafts
- EMF
- Air pressure
- Temperature

Similarly, a system for audio/video documentation seems necessary:
- Mulitple A/V units
- Strategically placed
- Securely mounted
- 110v powered
- Able to transmit to cloud
- Motion activated

How to Put it Together?
- Series of A/V mounts, (wifi?) to cloud
- Series of tabletop or stand-alone probe banks?
- Small individual test probes that plug into master panel?
- Large screen monitors visible by cameras?
- Measurement thresholds
- Measurement intervals

Utilizing our Methodology forums and panels, we expect to engineer a suitable testing apparatus for home use. So much of the paranormal is ambiguous, and that is largely what bothers the distressed people. By finding out what exactly is going on, some of the distress may be lessened. Of course not every claim lends itself to measurement, and less likely that people will take the time to fully investigate. But for those who are interested in methodically investigating "unexplained" events, a good option should exist.
Currently there are numerous ways to test for numerous factors, but there is no scientific method to organize a multi-faceted effort. That is the mission of the future PS APParatus.
